Born to a working-DJ dad, Sweetie grew up with speakers arranged around her cot, his classic cuts of Reggae, Soul, Funk and Bollywood hits as her lullabies. By 15 she was playing gigs locally. Moving from wild West Cornwall to London at 21, she was handed a bag of 12s and told, “with these you will always be able to make some dolla and make people dance”. Whether playing a big soundsystem or an intimate club night, Sweetie’s all-vinyl conscious music is always steeped in celebration, family and solidarity. Meeting and elevating the mood of any event, selectress Sweetie radiates her passion for music and getting crowds dancing.
