Can We Just Play
Imwen Eke (she/her) is a play alchemist, facilitator, educator, creative technologist and TEDx speaker who uses play as an invitation to explore our social realities. With a background in immersive theatre production, game design and cultural strategy, her work spans entertainment, governance, climate justice, education, research and creative technology, all through the lens of play. She’s the founder of New Party Rules Labs, a game studio crafting mixed-reality games for adults and her provocations have been shared from UN Geneva to the G20 in Rio, at festivals and on street corners alike. On Can We Just Play, Imwen invites listeners to reimagine play in adulthood through conversation, laughter and connection to embrace the possibilities that emerge when we treat play not as escape but as practice for the world we want.

'Can We Just Play' explores how adults engage with play today. Through conversations with artists, culture-makers, and everyday people, we investigate play's role in adult life, examining its intersection with work, life, cultural identity, social justice, and society. Each episode features casual but meaningful discussion that challenge traditional narratives about who gets to play and how. We will amplify voices rarely heard in conversations about play, particularly from Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour communities, working-class perspectives, and queer and trans experiences, industry professionals and everyday citizens. Broadcasting from our unique canal-side location, we're creating a fresh platform for reimagining play's importance in adult life.
